The National Shrine sees two important events in 2010 and 2011. In September,the statue will travel to Westminster for the Papal Visit and this is followed by the Shrine Silver Jubilee in 2011. It is planned to mark these occasions in a variety of ways, including developing the Shrine. Any contribution to the Jubilee Fund would be most welcome and can be made by clicking the donate button.

We are privileged , as the National Welsh Shrine to Our Lady,  to be asked to play an important part in the Papal Visit, on behalf of the Catholic Church in Wales.

The Statue of Our Lady of the Taper  will travel to Westminster Cathedral , where His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI  will  bless a candle and place it in the hand of the statue of  Our Lady of the Taper.

As the statue of Our Lady of the Taper travels to Westminster Cathedral , the Bishop of Clifton has expressed his wish for the statue to pause at Clifton Cathedral, where a Vigil of Prayer will be held to mark the Papal Visit.

The statue will begin its journey to Westminster on September 15th, after Holy Mass and a farewell ceremony.

On the return of the Statue, a Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at the Shrine. Please see our WebSite for further details as we move nearer to the time.

In order to defray expenses and enable further developments to the shrine , including improvements to the grounds, the visitor experience , information and building, we have launched our Jubilee Appeal.
